ReturnNotice (the “App”) is developed by Ali Moussa (the “Developer”, “we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles information. We have designed the App to respect your privacy: ReturnNotice is built to run on your device, and most of your data never leaves it.

By using ReturnNotice, you agree to the practices described below.

Information the App Collects

ReturnNotice is a local-first app. The vast majority of your data is stored on your device only and is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

Data you provide in the App:

  • Returns and purchases you log: item names, stores, categories, regions, prices, purchase/delivery dates, memberships, custom product attributes, and status.
  • Attachments you add: photos and PDF receipts, stored on your device.
  • Notification preferences and app settings (stored in your app-group preferences).

We do not create an account, and we do not require or collect your name, email address, or any personal identifier to use the App.

On-Device Processing (AI Scan)

The “AI Scan” feature extracts details from a receipt photo or a pasted product link. This processing is performed entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device frameworks (Vision, PDFKit, NaturalLanguage, and Apple Foundation Models). Your photos and text are never uploaded for this purpose and never sent to the Developer or any third party.

Network Use

The App makes a single, optional network request: when you paste an external product/link URL into AI Scan, the App fetches that URL so it can extract product details. This fetch is HTTPS-only, blocks redirects, and caps the response size at 2 MB. We do not see this traffic; the request is made directly to the URL you provided.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync (via your device’s iCloud account), your ReturnNotice data is synchronized across your devices through iCloud / CloudKit, operated by Apple. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and iCloud terms. Sync is optional and can be disabled at any time.

Calendar Access

With your permission, the App may add return-by dates as events to a “ReturnNotice” calendar so you can see deadlines alongside your schedule. You control this in the App’s Calendar settings and can revoke access at any time through your device settings. The App does not read or collect other calendar data.

Camera Access

With your permission, the App uses the camera to photograph receipts so it can capture the products for your return. Photos you take are stored on your device and are never uploaded.

Notifications

The App may send local notifications as return-window reminders. These are generated on your device and do not transmit your data to us. You can disable notifications at any time in the App or in your device settings.

Third-Party Services

We do not use analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, attribution, or any tracking software or SDKs. ReturnNotice does not display third-party ads. The App’s only third-party code dependencies are open-source utility libraries published by Apple.

In-App Purchases

ReturnNotice offers a one-time Pro purchase and optional one-time tips. All purchases and payments are processed by Apple (App Store), and we do not receive or store your payment information. Your purchase history, if any, is associated with your App Store account by Apple.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device (and, if enabled, in your iCloud account) until you delete it. The App provides a “Delete All Data” option in Settings, which permanently removes your data from the device. Deleting the App from your device removes locally stored data; data synced to iCloud is subject to Apple’s deletion and retention practices. You may request assistance with data deletion at any time using the contact details below.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
